What can I say about the island of IOS? Well, it's a small island with only 2000 inhabitants year round. The peak season is June July and August with May and September being the shoulder months. It is very mountainous and only one road to drive around the island. It's noted for its sandy beaches, the tomb of Homer, and the artists Yannis Gaitis/Gabriella Somossi and Angelo Michalopoulos.
Every day we wake up and watch the ferries come and go from the port as we eat breakfast. At night we watch the sunset over the mountains.
We rented a car for two days and just drove around.
We stopped at the tomb of Homer which is their claim to fame. Homer wrote the Iliad and the Odyssey, yet they don't really know if he really existed or if this is really his tomb.

We stopped at a cheese factory, but didn't go in.
We stopped at the art museum of Yannis Gaitis and Gabriella Somossi. He was a famous painter and she was a sculptor. After exhibiting around the world they spent their final days in IOS. He delved into modern art but was most famous for the "Little People."
At a dead end of a desolate road, we saw a gate and it started to open so we drove in. It's unique, expensive resort developed by Angelo Michalopoulos with a PopArt-style and is famous for the saying "Create a Life you can Live." Our pictures don't do it justice so it might be worth a look at www.surfacemag.com
And we had Sea Bass for dinner
On our last day here we are starting out with a Full English Breakfast and Chocolate Crepe while we overlook the port.
Here are some general pictures of our trip around the island.
