Before we left the Pelopeonnese we made a trip to Olympia where the first Olympics were held. We had been there in 2005 and actually ran the track. This time I just lined up in the starting blocks. Nestled in the mountains with a stream running through the valley, Olympia was more than an athletic competition but the entire site is filled with the remains of temples with the Temple to Zeus being most prominent. It reminds us that the Greeks never separated their gods from every aspect of their lives.
After another three hour trip back to Athens, we boarded the train and headed to Piraeus port where we boarded a ferry to the Island of Aegina.
We are lodging at the Ela Mesa for a few days before we head back to Athens. We are laying low so not much to report.
